- All you need to do is enter your SSID (this is the name of your Wireless Network) and the matching PSK (this is the Pre-Shared Key, or Password) for this network, when you hit 'Submit' the generated config file will download to your computer. If you require a config to connect to any available open network, leave the SSID and PSK.
- Nov 13, 2019 The SSID can be seen by anyone nearby who scans for Wi-Fi signals from their phone or another mobile device. Each router's instruction manual contains slightly different instructions for changing the SSID, although the process, in general, is fairly common across the major router manufacturers.
- You can use the Random WEP/WPA Key Generator to generate a random WEP or WPA key. Simply choose the desired key length using the drop-down menu, and one will be generated for you. Simply choose the desired key length using the drop-down menu, and one will be generated for you.

Sep 23, 2019 All Motorola modems come with a default WiFi Name and Password, known as the SSID and Security Key. They are printed on the sticker on the bottom of the modem. If you have a modem that has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands, you will see them on the sticker.
We used the following method to distribute our corporate wireless network to our new mobile devices.
**Please note that distributing this QR code could result in your corporate wireless network security being compromised.**
Please use your best judgement on how to distribute the code and secure your wireless network as needed.
Ssid Code For Wireless Connection
7 Steps total
Step 1: Gather WiFi Details
Generate public and private key online. To distribute a QR code for WiFi you will need the following: https://hawaiikeen227.weebly.com/generate-a-rsa-key-comman.html.
Step 2: Locate a QR Code Generator
We used this site:
http://www.qrstuff.com/
http://www.qrstuff.com/
Step 3: Select Data Type
You can see in the screenshot that there are loads of options available.
In our case select Wifi Login (Android Only)*
*We do not use iDevices here so I cannot comment on whether or not this will work for iDevices or if there is a way to make this work.
Step 4: Select Content
Enter the following:
SSID
Password
Network Type
SSID
Password
Network Type
Step 5: Optional - Select Colors for your QR Code
I skipped this step but if you would like to make your QR code pretty adjust that here.
Step 6: NOT RECOMMENDED - Optional - Download QR Code
I left the website up as is on my laptop during our presentation so folks could scan the QR code only during my presentation.
If you have a Guest network that is not tied to your corporate network you could certainly make this code accessible more freely but I still don't recommend it.
Step 7: Scan the Barcode with Barcode Scanner or other App
New Generate Online Wireless Key New Ssid Password
This is self explanatory but you actually have to scan the code for this to work. The screenshot shows what happens when you do that.
I didn't plan it but I got a picture of SpiceRex approving of QR Codes
For our situation this was the best option to do a mass distribution of our corporate WiFi to our new Android users. Please consider all security risks before implementing this in your own environment.
Prerequisites:
Android Device
Bar Code Scanner
Android Device
Bar Code Scanner
Update - 8/7/2012 - We rolled out a new wireless code today to all of our users. We sent out an email to our uses who had Android phones reminding them to have Barcode Scanner installed. With the exception of a few older devices, the Android devices took the least amount of time.
How To Find Ssid Key
In addition to that it looks as if the information will not be displayed for the WiFi connection so it's a bit more secure.

- Nic (Spiceworks) Mar 27, 2012 at 12:36pmI think this might be the first actually useful application of QR codes that I've seen. Nice work!
- PoblanoTonyBortz Mar 27, 2012 at 04:00pmWhat code scanner did they use? I tried using this with the built in AT&T code scanner and it just sits there saying 'connecting to..T:WPA' but never does anything else. However, QR Barcode Scanner says Not Recognized but shows the SSID and the key. I would feel a lot better if this just configured the device to use the Wifi instead of showing them the key. I'm hoping that's not just wishful thinking.
- DatilMHB Mar 28, 2012 at 11:48am@Tony the scanner we used is listed in the References section above. Also you will not be able to keep them from seeing the key which is why I suggested not downloading or sharing this app.Our code is so outrageously complicated that I had to come up with a quicker solution. Your mileage may vary.
- Thai PepperTony Poupa Mar 28, 2012 at 10:44pmNice. I didn't realize there were so many options for a QR code. Hope to see an iPhone version of this soon!
- DatilAlex1318 Mar 30, 2012 at 08:36amnice how-to could be useful
- Serranoskamage Mar 30, 2012 at 03:06pmVery nice. Going to have to check this out. Note on your reference to the barcode scanner. It's giving a broken link (it's trying to go to http://https//play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.zxing.client.android&hl=en ). I just copied the link location and took out the extra http: and added a colon after the https and it directed me to the app.
- CayenneYahtzee Mar 30, 2012 at 03:08pmVery cool. Thanks for the share.
- Ghost ChiliKellanved Apr 2, 2012 at 09:14amNice write-up, it's a shame there's no iPhone equivalent. On the other hand, I rarely see QR codes, so..
- DatilMHB Apr 9, 2012 at 12:58pmskamage I fixed the link. Thanks!
- HabaneroLauren7060 Jun 5, 2012 at 03:09pmGreat idea! I like this a lot!
- JalapenoPizzaman7 Jun 5, 2012 at 03:17pmQR Codes are gaining in popularity. I have an app for this on my iPhone. Thanks for the tip. Now I don't have to be using my phone to make one !
- HabaneroDashrender Jun 5, 2012 at 03:39pmGreat Tip, very clever!
- HabaneroHubba Bubba Jun 7, 2012 at 02:47amGreat idea, a use for QR codes at last
- JalapenoGraeme484 Jun 7, 2012 at 10:53amI can see how this would be useful if you had a number of guests attending a venue and wanted to offer use of the wifi independant from the corporate network. Or had a special guest network for making presentation materials or online resources available for access. You could generate a new SSID and password for each occasion hosted and just print off the appropriate QR code and paste it up by the door on the way in.
